Washi Tape Christmas Tree Craft For Family Far Away
This Christmas is the first year that my brother Adam and my sister-in-law along with my nieces won’t be visiting. Each of us have experienced our family expanding and they have so many to visit this year that we cannot be squeezed into the trip. However, I am bringing the holidays to them with a washi Christmas tree with presents craft which will be shipped with ease to them.
Worried that your crafting skills are something that will never get you featured in a crafting magazine? Fear not! This craft is able to be completed by a novice or expert crafter. Thanks to Scotch® Brand products you can easily create something beautiful and meaningful for family.
Head to your local Walmart and look for Scotch® Expressions Tapes in the scrapbook and crafts aisle, there are so many to choose from you may have a difficult time narrowing it down. I found my Scotch® Create photo mount adhesive spray right next to the tape, you may find it with other art or office supplies.
Blue and green glitter Scotch® Expressions Tapes
Scotch® Create photo mount adhesive spray
black scrapbook paper
patterned scrapbook paper for presents
small star ornament
3 small decorative present bows
Crayon or chalk
You can easily recreate this on any size paper that you want. Keith and I think this would be wonderful to make a poster board as well. The instructions should help you to recreate this to any size and you can always include more or less presents.
Start by pulling and separating the cotton balls as much as you can.
Spray the back of the cotton ball with the adhesive spray. Make sure you do this away from the scrapbook paper as this is very sticky and permanent. Attach cotton balls on the bottom to looks like snow.
Measure half way (6 inches on scrapbook paper) and draw a faint tree trunk line 6 inches tall. I used a crayon, you can also use chalk.
Cut a one inch strip of Scotch® Brand Expressions green glitter tape and place at the top of the tree at a downward angle, repeat on the other side.
Next you cut 3/4 of an inch and place this at the bottom of the first pieces of tape and lay it straight. The best part of this washi tape is that you can easily unpeel it and reposition the tape. To continue making the tree you place 2 inch tape down and then 1 1/2 inch tape in, another 2 inch and then 1 1/2 and another 2 inch. This should bring you to the bottom of the paper and you place a 5 inch piece of washi tape to connect the sides of the tree.
Next you fill in the tree with the green glitter tape and mount your ornament on top of the tree with the adhesive spray
Now cut any size square you want out of your decorative scrapbook paper. I used 4 inch squares, cut 1 inch slits twice on one side and do the same on the opposite side. Fold in each side, fold in the cuts and then you have a box.
You can have tall or short presents if you change the measure of your scrapbook paper. Now you tape the inside to keep the present together. Spray the bottom with adhesive spray and place around the tree.
Next cut the blue glitter tape in half and zig-zag down the tree like garland.
Now you have a wonderful gift that you can carefully mail to family far away. You can add a greet with chalk as well or cut out photos and use the adhesive spray to attach them!
No matter what projects you are creating the Scotch® Expressions line is perfect to add to your crafts. You can a versatile amount of tapes to use to jazz up anything. Adding in the Scotch® Create line to make sure that your projects stay put, whether masking tape or adhesive spray, you can count on Scotch® Create being there to add the final touches.
How do you celebrate with family far away?
