Ivory soap is a wonderful item that has so many different uses. If you think outside of the “washing your hands” ideal you can find different ways to use Ivory soap and why you should always have a shaved bowl full of Ivory soap for emergencies.
My favorite way to use Ivory soap is using it as a makeup brush cleaner. Simply take a bar of Ivory soap and cut it up into flakes. Take the flakes and rub it between your palms under the water to get a nice soapy foam on your palms.
Next you want to rub the brush around in the soap and watch as the makeup comes off, keep repeating and washing out with water until the brushes run clear. Be sure not to submerge the brush towards the bristle handle. This will cause the glue holding the bristles together to loosen and then you will have strands missing from you brush, not good!
Lay down your makeup brushes on a paper towel to dry and keep their shape.
Ivory soap is such a great alternative use for expensive makeup brush cleaners. As you can see from my tub I can clean soooo many more times than I would with the brush cleaner bottles. My brushes feel softer and look much more cleaner now switching to Ivory.
Other Uses For Ivory Soap:
- As a stain remover on laundry
- Facial cleanser or scrub (just add sugar)
- Use on bug bites to help calm the sting
- Put a wrapped bar of soap in stinky shoes to help take away the odor
