Supporting a Friend Who Is Trying to Conceive #TheStorkOTC
When you learn that your friend is trying to conceive, or having trouble trying to conceive you may wonder what you can offer them. There are many ways you can lend a hand during this time and be supportive.
Help With Day to Day Tasks
Dealing with infertility and trying to conceive causes a stressful environment. Not only for the personal emotionally but their body can take on the effects of stress. Allow your friend some time off from day to day tasks like grocery shopping and cleaning. Just taking some time off of their schedule can do wonders for how allowing them to relax.
Just be an Ear
Often when our friends come to us we feel like they need to hear something. It really is the exact opposite in most cases, they really just want to vent. I’ve often been the ear to my best friend Alicia, we have both been there for each other while were trying to conceive.
Over the course of 2 years for her, and 5 years for me, we just let everything we were feeling out and became a shoulder for the other person. Infertility can give you a lot of weight emotionally and to let it out can make you feel much better.
Be Their Inner Voice
At the 19, I encountered my first friend who was having infertility problems. After helping her during her 2 year journey, she told me one of the best things I did for her was remind her why she started.
I wanted to know why she wanted to go through this process so bad, when she told her I used that to remind her every time she felt like giving up. I wasn’t offering her new advice, I was just supporting a friend who was a little lost. Reminding her of her inner voice.
