Simple Halloween Treats With Wilton

October 30, 2012 - 12 Comments

Every year Keith and I get excited to check out different seasonal baking products. Everyone knows that Wilton has an amazing line of pans, icing, and all the little extras you need to make your baking extra special. We were pleased to find an amazing bone pan that would make a number of simple Halloween treats to fill our tummy’s with joy.

There are many different things you could make with this pan but for the first time using it Keith decided to make Bone Cakes. We went back and forth with what we were going to call them, at first they were bone cupcakes, but then we said no they’re not really cupcakes so we finally decided on bone cakes.

They were really easy to make, we sprayed them a little just to make sure they would come out with no problem. Just grab your favorite cake mix and pour it in a little over half way. You can trim the extra that forms after baking but we found that it made the cakes weak and more apt to break as soon as they were picked up so we opted to just keep the extra, as Keith called it “flesh”.

I am so happy to receive those cooling racks last year for Christmas from my brother and sister-in-law, they certainly come in need when baking a large quantity. You can see the extra that has formed around the bones and again it is up to you if you decide to trim it or not. These are really some of the most simple Halloween treats I have ever made!

After they cooled Keith took the red frosting and dabbed it all over the bones to give it a ripped up flesh type of feel. These tasted delicious! We even had enough to share with our neighbors, who love it when we bake goodies.

Wilson’s makes a bone cake pan! I did not know that they made different pans like these. This is so awesome, making bones and then putting red frosting on the bones is awesome. I want to try this on Halloween this year.
