Loving and Embracing the First Year my Kids Were Born
The smell of their hair, the way their fingers would grasp onto mine and the cute little coos. Some of the first memorable moments after having my children. There is so much that goes into that first year and when you hear people say “it goes so quickly” , it really does!
I’m the mom that will just stare at my babies while they are sleeping. When I brought Korey home for the first time I was excited that there would be a lot of sleep and cuddling and the first thing he did was pee all over our bed. Yup! Right after I took his diaper off he hit the bed with a warm stream and his dad and I couldn’t stop laughing.
At that moment I knew that being home was nothing like being at the hospital, no nurses on call no food on demand and no one to answer my every single question. There was a panic when he hadn’t eaten for 8 hours and I started questioning everything I did before hand but the nurse reassured me and gave me some steps to get him eating again.
I realized that having some faith in myself as a mother could get me through the first year and all the firsts that my kids would have. Each first Christmas for the kids seemed to yield the same result, sure presents were wonderful but if they could use the present to interact with me that would bring the biggest smile to their face.
That connection to my boys is what keeps me pushing through everything when I feel like I can’t get something done. Those smiles in the morning that are just for me as I’m getting them ready are the light of my life.
I can remember the same feeling when they took their first steps. Korey didn’t want to do it in front of us, we could have to hide in the hallway and point the camera in as he would wobble from the couch to the middle of the living room with a smile on his face.
Cheering them on is such a gift to be able to give them that inspiration that they are capable of anything they put their mind to. A gentle reminder that mom will always be in their corner to take care of them.
One of the best ways I know to take care of them is using WaterWipes which are free of chemicals and only contains 99.9% water and .1% grapefruit seed extract.
At least once a day you can hear myself or their father say “I really can’t believe how amazing these are. I just want to buy them for everyone.”. This isn’t a half hearted endorsement, I really love the performance of these wipes and they will be my gift for any baby shower I attend in the future.
I’ve used them to clean up spills with no tears in them and they’ve been there when we can’t reach soap and water to clean up our hands while we’re out. However they are also very gentle, and safe to use on my loving precious boys. It’s been a nice cool relief when they have had rashes and cleans up their messes quickly. The best natural solution for baby wipes.
