Only a month into school and Korey had his first field trip with his preschool class. They went to a local place called Brown’s who sell all sorts of fruits and vegetables as well as ice cream and knick knacks. The playground which is normally available on the weekend only was opened up to them and they were allowed to play.
The whole theme of the field trip was about the season Fall and picking out their class pumpkin. Each kid was even able to pick out their own pumpkin to bring home, which Korey threw directly onto the floor when he arrived home, but thankfully the pumpkin only lost it’s stem and was able to stick back on.
The benefit of seeing him around his classmates is that we finally get to see the things that the teacher is talking about, and we’re worried that Korey is going to isolate himself with his behavior. He is being a bit too rough with classmates when playing, not looking and tripping or pushing kids, and touching kids when they don’t want to be touched. All about his sensory and more, hence why I have the OK to have a PT evaluation. One more service that would be added on and even less time in the classroom.
Saying that I’m worried would be an understatement but I have to keep a positive attitude, no one has given up on him yet and there’s no reason to. It’s just so difficult seeing how different he is, and all my friends have children who are “normal”.
