How to Host a Birthday Party For Kids Without Stress
Have you ever hosted a birthday party for kids and felt so stressed? Our first birthday party we put together felt like a nightmare, there was so much to do and never felt like enough time. Thankfully after a few years of practice I have some great tips on how to keep everything running smoothly.
Have a plan and a backup plan
Go ahead and pick a theme, TMNT as you can tell was our theme and then make sure you have a back up plan as well. The backup plan doesn’t need to be a different theme but once you know what you want as far as food, dessert, and games, make sure that you have a few more options as well.
Since Korey has special needs we are used to the idea that some things just don’t work for every kid. We asked all the parents if there was any restrictions on what their child could (or would) eat and made sure to make those arrangements as well. There’s nothing like leaving a child with an empty stomach because they can’t eat cheese on the pizza, then plan to have something else for that child to eat. A quick brainstorm with the parents and you are bound to find just what you need.
Give them time to run around
Kids are balls of energy just needing to release it at all times. A birthday party is going to be chaotic so you want to plan for time for the kids to be able to exert that energy.
We played musical games and had limbo which the kids loved, and you don’t need to be crazy about the rules either. Even a game of tag can be enough to let them run around after some cake!
Make clean up easy with WaterWipes
Between pizza, cake, face painting if you choose and all the other fun yet messy things at a party you need to have a clean up routine. Making sure that you have a vacuum, garbage bags and for me, WaterWipes is important.
WaterWipes contain 99.9% pure Irish water and .1% grapefruit seed extract. Let me tell you how happy parents were when I handed out some samples and told them there were no chemicals in them. We all worry about what our children interact with especially now that school has started and this is the most effective way I have found to clean up.
When Korey’s younger brother had in home therapy over the summer I showed the WaterWipes to his teachers and they were so happy to hear about these. No chemicals just a straight to the point clean up wipe with water!
Save money with gift bags
The parents weren’t the only ones going home with something! If you shop around dollar stores or look at party supply stores you can easily find very cheap items to fill up a gift bag (or bucket in our case) to give the kids something to remember the party by.
Leave all the messy things for during the party with clean up from WaterWipes as your assistant. They are so durable they can even clean the wigglest child who doesn’t like their face wiped, it picks up the cake dropped on the floor and so much more.
I was so happy to have a party that went off with no hitches just a few tears at times. Everyone went home happy and ready for some sleep after getting that energy out.
How do you make birthday parties successful?
These are great tips for a birthday party. I really like the gift bag idea!
