Owning a dog is much more than owning a pet. When we took Bella, a 10 year old Catahoula Leopard, into our home after Keith’s grandmother passed we knew that it would take some time for her to warm up to us. She was just being switched to a new food and diet, along with a new household. There was caution to make sure she felt comfortable and not overwhelmed.
After a few weeks of gentle handling, Bella started eating and having fun with the kids. Her tail was wagging and she was developing her personality again. Now that she has lost the weight she needed, she can go back to normal dog food but I want more than regular for her.
Did you know that once dogs reach age seven, their glucose metabolism starts changing which ends up affecting your dog’s memory, awareness, decision making and learning according to Purina Pro Plan experts. You can find the Purina® Pro Plan® BRIGHT MIND at your local PetSmart in the dog food section, you should notice a nice bright display as shown below.
As every transition with Bella we are taking this one slow, just as the package recommends we feed her less and less of her other food every day while replacing it with Purina® Pro Plan® BRIGHT MIND. I have certainly started to see that she gets more excited in the morning when it’s time to get ready and go out.
There has been some more playtime while switching, and I am enjoying seeing her act like she did for Keith’s grandmother. More happiness and loving while listening to me and doing her simple tricks. With small breed, large breed and a regular adult line, you will find just the right line for your dog.
Fun Fact: There are well over 87 million dogs in the U.S. alone and 44% of them are 7 years or older. Why not give them a blend of food that uses enhanced botanical oils to help memory, attention, and trainability within 30 days.
I think she has the look down from the adult line! Look out she’s the next model. In the next few weeks I will share an update on Bella’s journey to show how much change she has gone through.
How do you like to spend time with your adult dog?
