Education and Early Detection are Key This Movember for Mens Health
The First Time my Grandpa Fought Cancer
I was in high school the first time that my mother told me about Boppy having lung cancer. Scared, worried, wondering about the future, these were all the feelings I was going through. We spent many hours driving to his appointments and spending time together. Thanks to early detection, his doctors notice the problem and were able to treat it before it became stage 4.
Sadly they found cancer 2 more times throughout his life. While it wasn’t cancer that took his life, finding these cancers early allowed him to be treated and he outlived many of the years that doctors said he wouldn’t make it to.
Promote awareness and early detection with Movember and Lennox
Growing out mustaches and beards might be familiar to you in the month of November. This Movember movement is headed by Lennox, with the motto “Tell a guy you know”. Through awareness, and a simple action of sharing their video on social media which they will then donate $2 to mens health, you can give knowledge to the man you love in your life.
Men are known for being stubborn when it comes to their health. Often they put their family ahead of themselves and we have to look out for signs or give them a bit more pressure to visit their doctor. As we know annual check ups with your doctor is a to-do, however arming yourself or your loved one with knowing your family history of cancer. Giving your doctor proper information can help give you that key to early detection.

Get involved in Movember
Men making the small gesture of growing out your mustache and sharing Lennox’s Movember video can help. As a woman, you can get yourself more involved in your loved ones life. Give them reminders to get check ups, pay attention to signs and offer encouragement.
There’s nothing to be embarrassed about with health, things that may seem silly to you are something that a doctor has probably encountered a million times. Being around longer for family is much more important. Join in the movement and create awareness.
Who is a man in your life that needs encouragement?
