If the name of this blog doesn’t give it away then let me tell you, I love coffee. Waking up and getting Korey’s breakfast ready along with a nice hot cup of coffee for me is a daily routine that I actually enjoy. There’s something about that first cup of coffee that just makes my soul happy, and it may be that I get the special treat of enjoying it with my boyfriend Keith as well.
The month of September means thinking about Halloween, leaves changing, and of course pumpkin coffee! As is a Fall tradition in our family I brew two cups of coffee every morning that Keith decides to stay up after work, and take out pumpkin flavored creamer to get our taste buds ready for Fall. A relationship should have things that you both look forward to, even if they are tiny traditions they allow you to appreciate each other and remind each other why you love that person so much.
As soon as the coffee hits the table, we smile at each other, say “I love you” and then talk about what we plan on doing for the Fall and how we want to decorate for Halloween. I give a lot of the help for my inspirations from the pumpkin flavored creamer, it starts to get me in the mood for talking about Fall and ready to go shopping for decorations and food. One of my favorite parts of this tradition is the random 5 questions we ask each other.
Within the first 30 minutes we ask each other 5 random questions: How are you?, What do you want for Christmas?, New favorite music?, whatever we can think of within the first 30 minutes. It can be funny at times because my brain does not work very without coffee in it. Having those first 30 minutes to just concentrate on us though is something that I really cherish.
After being together for 8 years, making sure that spark and love is still is very important. Dating at such a young age and actually staying together is a blessing to me. Along with our two beautiful children, just being able to look into his eyes in the morning and know he’s always there for me is great. My first cup in the morning always reminds me how much my life is filled with love.
How do you connect with family over coffee?
