I became familiar with how the American Red Cross helps families in need when I was around the age of 7 and we had a house fire. My mother accidentally left food on the stove and had fallen asleep, I remember hearing the fire alarm and coughing from the smoke waking my father up in a panic.
He still credits me to this day for doing just that, thinking and acting appropriately but alas we needed a place to stay for a few days and that’s where the American Red Cross came in. We were set up with a place to stay, some clothes and I even was given a stuffed animal to try and cheer me up under such a scary circumstance. I have never forgotten what they did for my family and I always make sure to help voluntary when the chances arise.
Master Lock is looking for you to help give to the American Red Cross by answering a simple question: When in your life has safety and security been most top of mind? By answering this question on Twitter you will be entered for a chance to win prizes of up to $100, more details later. I would like to take the chance to tell you my answer, and it’s still very scary to this day.
When I was around the age of 16 I was hanging out in my room with friends when we noticed there was someone watching in my window. Immediately I started to freak out and my boyfriend at the time went outside to chase this anonymous person who fled on his bike. That day showed me that even though I was thought I was safe in my room I had no idea just how vulnerable I had made myself.
Master Lock is donating $1 to the ARC for every response to that question tweeted with the hashtag #MasterLockProtects with up to a total of $10,000 available to donate, including a $10,000 donation they already made for a grand total of $20,000. Join in on the chance to win prizes and for all the details about the Twitter party tomorrow 1/27 at 8PM Eastern time.
